FEBRUARY KNIT ALONG

While the snow is piling up outside, worsted weight yarns are well-stocked and ready for our FEBRUARY KNIT ALONG.  Read on and you may just be inspired to join in the fun.

Our project for the month of February is the Baa-ble Hat.  Many of you may have already seen our in-store samples (shown below) and are aware that this is currently the MOST popular hat pattern in the yarn universe!!  Why?  Thousands upon thousands of knitters worldwide have joined the flock to create their own inspiring versions of this hat and who can resist lovable sheep.

Originally designed as the official pattern to commemorate Shetland Wool Week, an annual celebration of the rugged islands located just four hundred miles below the Arctic Circle off the northern tip of Scotland where knitters have been producing intricate garments for many generations using wool spun from native sheep.  This pattern is a great opportunity to learn the stranding technique and can be knit with a combination of Continental and English knitting methods.  It is knit on circular needles and requires four shades of wool.

The Baa-ble Hat is a free charted pattern to download here.

To join the flock-

Step 1: Download a copy of the pattern.
Step 2: Choose your colours in worsted weight wool.
Step 3: Cast on during the first week of February at home or sit and knit with our flock on Saturdays from 1 pm to 2:30 pm.
Step 4: Check back here each week for technique tips and helpful hints.
Step 4: Receive a ballot ticket for every Baa-ble Hat finished by February 29th.  We will draw one randomly picked winner on March 1st along with a special prize for most creative hat so let your imagination go wild!

Sit baa-ck and join our February flock of knitters and learn a few new techniques along the way.
