MINI TASSELS

Are these not the cutest little embellishments to add to your CELEBRATIONS SHAWL?  Not only do they have a fun Moroccan element to them, they also represent a fabulous display of colour in a miniature fireworks show!


Here is the tutorial to make your own MINI TASSELS-


Materials:
2 double point needles 5 mm/ US 8
1 double point needle 3 mm/ US 2.5
Darning needle
Scissors
Peppino by Rhichard Devrieze Yarns fingering weight merino in assorted colours

1. Thread approx. 36 in/ 91 cm length of yarn onto darning needle and insert under two bars along shawl edge. [Wrap yarn vertically around all three needles held in position and under two bars at edge] Repeat nine times.   

2. Cut yarn ends slightly longer than tassel length. 

3. Cut a length of yarn approx. 12 in/ 30.5 cm and thread onto darning needle.  Wrap three times horizontally around tassel between smaller and larger needle.  Tie ends together at back of tassel and thread through tied section to bury ends. 

4. Remove all three needles.  Cut through all loops at end of tassel. 

5. Trim ends to neaten tassel. 

6. Space each tassel ten stitches apart along cast on edge in desired colour sequence to create eleven tassels in all.  Repeat along cast off edge to match.  



SUMMER ROAD TRIP MKAL

Big news for fans of the Yours Truly, Summer MKAL..... the sequel is due out on July 1st!!
This time we are taking a S U M M E R   R O A D   T R I P  across
C A N A D A  starting at the Pacific Coast and ending at the Atlantic Coast.

Kick back and relax..... breath in the fresh air... enjoy the view as we wind our way from coast to coast taking in four thousand miles of stunning scenery in celebration of
C A N A D A  150

This crescent-shaped shawl will be knit with the wonderful yarns of Rhichard Devrieze, and depending on your preference may or may not be color specific.  Five colors are required for this project, one skein of each in Peppino fingering weight merino. There will be at least 10g remaining after completion of each CLUE.

We will host an in store Knit A Long on Friday afternoons from 1 to 3 pm throughout the summer!  Please feel to join in or follow along at home.  There are many colors to choose from at the shop or through mail order.  Please contact us by phone or email and we are more than happy to help customize your color selection.

Seabreeze (blue variegated)
Honey On The Go (gold stippled)
O Canada (red solid)
When I Think Of You (green stippled)
Twyla Brae (multi-color stippled)

Step outside the box when choosing your colors, as stipples, variegated and solids will all work well together.  If you prefer to swap out some of your colors along the way.... go for it!  Its your road trip!

ONE clue will be released every TWO weeks for a total of FIVE clues.  The FIRST clue will be FREE in honor of Canada's big day on July 1st!  Following clues will be 1.50 each.

Row 1 (RS): K1, kfb, [yo, k2tog, k2], rep [to] until 3 sts remain, k2tog, k1 =165 sts.
Row 2 and alt rows (WS): K to last 2 sts, kfb, k1.
Row 3: K1, kfb, [yo, k2tog, k2], rep [to] until 4 sts remain, k1, k2tog, k1 = 166 sts.
Row 5: K1, kfb, [yo, k2tog, k2], rep [to] until 5 sts remain, yo, k2tog, k2tog, k1 = 167 sts.
Row 7: K1, kfb, [yo, k2tog, k2], rep [to] until 6 sts remain, yo, k2tog, k1, k2tog, k1 = 168 sts.
Row 9: K1, kfb, [yo, k2tog, k2], rep [to] until 3 sts remain, k2tog, k1 = 169 sts.

Row 15: K1, kfb, [yo, k2tog, k2], rep [to] until 6 sts remain, yo, k2tog, k1, k2tog, k1 = 172 sts.
Row 17: K1, kfb, [yo, k2tog, k2], rep [to] until 3 sts remain, k2tog, k1 = 173 sts.
Row 19 (Picot Cast Off): Cast off 2 sts, [slip remaining st from right to left needle, cast on 5 sts using knitted cast on method, slip first 5 sts over the last cast on st, slip this remaining st from left to right needle, cast off 3 sts], rep [to] until 2 sts remain.  Cast off 2 sts. 
Cut yarn and fasten off.
