What started out as a small project in a Quebec yarn shop spearheaded by one woman has now rapidly gathered momentum all across our country with more than a hundred groups popping up. 25,000 Tuques is a grassroots initiative aimed at supplying a warm hand knit hat as a welcoming gesture for every Syrian refugee entering Canada this winter. See CTV news article here.
Now that the holidays are over, if you have extra time to spare and would like to keep on knitting, Muskoka Yarn Connection is now an official drop off location for 25,000 Tuques. There is no immediate deadline as families will continue to arrive during the winter. All sizes are needed, men, women, children and teens in any type of pattern and any type of yarn. Please attach a welcome note to the hat with yarn content and washing directions on the reverse. We will offer a 10% off coupon to anyone who donates hats to this very worthwhile cause.
