Summer Blues

There is something so calm and peaceful about the colour blue- the sky, the water. It all came together in this picture of my nephew playing at the water's edge, in his faded denim shirt and little engineer cap, oblivious to everything around him except his toy dump truck, the sand and the sound of gulls overhead.Blue is a colour that suits everyone. It can be described in many hues- navy, denim, ocean, indigo, cobalt, cerulean, cyan, baby blue, iris, and royal. Its a universal colour- in some cultures it has religious significance, keeping bad spirits away. Navy blue portrays an image of intelligence, stability, and power in the corporate world. For knitters, its a colour that is relaxing and a favorite for summertime knitting.
Louisa Harding's charming peplum cardigan has a dreamy quality to it, knit in Rosetti, a softly twisted chunky yarn in a mix of merino wool and silk.Jane Ellison calms the waters with a denim blue zipped cardigan, knit in Antu-a pure cotton yarn in an array of variegated colourways.Sirdar has developed a huge following with Escape DK, a washable wool/acrylic blend in more than sixteen shades. This longer length cardigan for mother and daughter drifts casually through summer and fall.
